So a stem is basically every single drum, kick, hi hat etc laid out individually in its own track?

This is assuming we haven't already put every sound in the mixer and EQ'd/mixed it/added FX. For those of you who do do that, solo the master in the mixer. If you hear any sounds playing, you haven't put them into the mixer.

After you make sure EVERY sound is in the mixer (and EQd/mixed/etc.), THEN follow the next steps.

    3RD AND LAST NOTE:

If you made some awesome automation clips, like high passes or panning, they will not be loaded into the .wav file.
So the automation clips won't affect the sound, wich is pretty fucking lame.

So this way to make stems is for the lazy people, not for them prows

    2ND NOTE:

ALLWAYS USE A BACK-UP .FLP FILE.

Go to the top, select FILE-> SAVE NEW VERSION

For the people who want to use this trick, keep this in mind:

The linking progress will go like this:

The first sample from the top, (for instance your Kick) will be linked to the first FX
The second sample from the top (for instance your snare) will be linked to the second FX

So if your samples aren't in the order of your FX's, DON"T USE THE "Starting From The Track" option.

    Just add them manually

How does this work for using Automations to fade in and out parts of the track?

For the people below asking about making stems with FX. Unless it is a very specific sound/FX combo that can't easily be recreated in the mix DONT DO IT. You want your tracks dry, let the mixing engineer on the other end apply them on his end. If you are just sending a track for somebody to record into, just send them a stereo bounced file to record to and send you their audio back in stems and you complete the mix.

When I do this way, I only get 5 tracks. Never all of them. 3 of them are the vocals and the other ones say "*Song Title*_Master" and "*Song Title*_Selected". Why is this happening?

I use the mixer to apply editing and other effects on my instruments, when i lay them out onto the mixer individually, certain instruments are applied to the wrong channel with the wrong effects, and then the rest just no longer have any sort of editing...how do i stem everything while still obtaining my original effects/mastering?

How would I combine elements and then export them as one wav, such as kicks, hats, percs exported as one Wav, synths and pads as another wav, and fx as another?? Does that make sense :) ?

make sure theres no effects on your noises before exporting

Would be cool to export playlist tracks, instead of mixer channels, sometimes. Anyway, thanks for the video!

My ram usage is really high and fl studio keeps freezing. Will i still be able to do this stem thing without freezing my screen? and will this lower down the ram usage?
